...company or small, financially healthy bank or not?

I would suggest going with a bigger company, or a more well known bank with a good reputation.If there are local businesses that are smaller try to get some background information. It's safer with larger banks like Bank of America, because there are more banks and clients who have worked with them before.Also there is a lot more customer service options with a larger bank and possibly more knowledge for certain sections of what that bank has to offer.Although a smaller bank may have the personal touch they may not be as reliable. Try to ask around to anyone who uses a smaller local bank and get opinions.
