My husband owned our home before we got married and it's in his name alone. He has excellent credit. We are looking to purchase a larger home together within the next year or so. My credit is not so great. I have not had any late payment or anything negative in the last 4 years. However, I still have some collection accounts/charge offs on my report from the past. Most of them will not be off my report until 2011 and we plan on purchasing in 2010. Should I pay these now? Never? or not until we go to get the mortgage? I need advise on how to clear this up before we apply for a mortgage together. I have sent a couple of them letters asking them to commit to removing the delinquent information from my report in exchange for full payment but I have not received anything back yet. I need professional advise.
