I would suggest that you find your real estate agent the same way that you find any other service provider:

(1) Do your research first on the field in which you need help (in your case, finding buyers, marketing your property, and closing the deal);
(2) Identify any potential challenges in the services that you need (here, you'll have an uphill battle due to the market slump and large numbers of foreclosures);
(3) Identify a pool of potential service providers (from searches on the Internet, friends' recommendations, etc); and
(4) Contact each potential agent to ask them how they will deal with your issue and the challenges that you will face.
As I mentioned, it's a buyer's market in Riverside, so I recommend that you specifically ask agents what they are doing to move houses. You will need more than just a listing, a flyer, and a sign in front. See what ideas they have, and see who takes you seriously and who you're comfortable with. Good luck.
